I'm back. I've been without computer for alittle over 2 weeks. I need to name Mo Vaughn as my franchise. Brawler, send it to 2412 North Stonelake Circle Bloomington IN 47404
Retard
As far as IU basketball goes, it all goes back to coaching. Mike Davis is an absolute joke as a coach and as a person. Did you see the ridiculous statements he made at the post-game press conference. The offense he has them running is awful and the lack of hustle goes back to one person, the coach. I would like to start a movement to fire Mike Davis. Anyone who is with me should begin writing the athletic department immediately. That is what I am going to do.
The hell with basketball, I'm ready for baseball right now. Maybe once the season starts I can put last year's fantasy nightmare behind me.
Has anyone heard from Adam? He needs to name his franchise player and I need to get with him about engraving the plaque. If anyone hears from him let him know that I need his address so I can send it to him.
I'm so pissed at IU basketball that I can't believe I'm even making another post about it. Ever since I first stepped foot onto campus, a program rich in tradition and excellence got infiltrated with a bunch of absolute pussies who think tradition alone will carry them. I see other teams go to the boards like it means something and every loose ball could determine the outcome of the game. It's just "another" loose ball or rebound to us. I guess that's why I have been such a big Fife supporter. Because I can honestly say that he is the only player since I started going there that hustled his ass off each and every play. That makes his year this year that much greater, but just pisses me right back off that they still can't sack up and win all the games that they should. You can blame it on Davis or you can blame it on "Mr. NBA" Jeffries, but I for one will blame it on just not truly giving a shit about hustling to another win. Can we get to baseball season now???
I just happened to be at the IU-Butler game... pissed off I might add... and I got to thinking. It's much worse being at a game and watching them lose than watching at home. You don't have to listen to all the opposing fans yelling, whooping, and hollering that their fucking team won. You don't have to see any high fives, the laughter, the jubilation, the players running wild on the court... especially when you, yourself are trying to console yourself by telling you that things will get better and maybe one year you won't have to put up with an inconsistent IU basketball team.
And by the way, the technical on Davis was absolute bullshit. He had been yelling the whole game and I guess all that added up... because all he did was make a little disgust motion and then started walking the other way. Bullshit I say. But, IU let up when they were up by 9 points with 9 minutes to go and didn't score a basket for 5 minutes. The game shouldn't have been that close. We shot the lights out for the 1st half. And it was nice to see Fife hitting 3's in peoples faces and Hornsby shoot like he could. That's about all I have to say about that. One to forget about for sure.
Damn good point, Finney. Complete oversight on my part.
Damn good point, Finney. Complete oversight on my part.
Nice point Finney, and I agree with the first rule change.... you can't bring a guy up from your reserve roster who is on the dl to get a dl replacement regardless if you just put him on the week before.
On the 2nd rule change that is up for nomination, I vote that you should have to replace a dl guy immediately (unless you forget to one week or don't have the opportunity due to him going on the DL right before the deadline, then you must the next week). I know the argument will be brought up that you're not getting any stats (and "poon-tang" for some of you)if your sitting and waiting in limbo for the right move to make... but I think a dl replacement is already a fair enough advantage (in some cases) and should be made immediately.
Sincerely, Dr. Ruth McCandless
I have a problem with the first rule change in your second post, Gryder. In the unanimously voted changes you there is the change that we can no longer call up a guy from the reserve if he is on the DL and replace him. If that is the case, and I agree with it, then why would we be able to take a DL'd player from our active roster, put him on the reserve team, then call back up for a new player. This completely contridicts the other rule change. If you put a DL'd guy on the reserve team, then shouldn't the first rule take effect eliminating your ability to call him up and replace him?
Two additional changes were brought up but not voted on unanimously. One was that you can no longer send a guy on your starting team that's on the DL down to your reserve and then immediately bring him back up so you can get a new guy. Everyone agreed with this except that Danny just added that you should be able to do this the following week if you want. I agree and assume everyone else does too. The final nomination was that you must replace a DL guy as soon as he goes on the DL instead of the option of waiting until a viable option comes along. I definitely think this should be implemented and several others do too, but some were opposed as well. I think we should put this topic up to debate effective immediately and then officially vote in the next week or two. Finally, Tripp also recommended that we could draft reserves at anytime during the draft rather then at the end and then just announce who the reserves actually are at the end of the draft. I agree with this, but the only comment against it that I have is that you better make sure you are under the cap. Always before, everyone tries to keep a running total of the salary cap for everyone else, but this can only be done by the individual owner if we don't know who is on reserves or not. I don't view this as a problem as long as people pay close attention and can add, which I'm fully confident everyone can do. Sorry for the lengthy posts.
Just a quick run-down of potential rule changes. Three new rule changes were voted on unanimously (except Adam who didn't vote at all). There can be no trade-backs (and to answer Tripp, a trade back does not mean you can never trade that player back obviously, just that you can't do it all in the same week to prevent using a move----I'm still absolutely dumbfounded that happened). Also, if a reserve player goes on the DL, you can't bring that player up and replace him. You are just stuck with him until he comes off the DL. Also, you can keep additional players to be put on your reserve as long as you have 10 players that you keep for your starting team.
I think Shawn would be all right in our league. I don't know that I've discussed much baseball with him but if Jeremy and Dr. Ruth McCandless say he knows baseball I believe them. If we are voting I vote to let him in.
Is Ralph Bertram eligible for our draft?
Bertram gets my vote!
Ralph Bertram has been begging me for months to join.
Maybe we should just take a year off from expanding and plan on adding the 10th in '03. That would give us a year to figure out for sure who to take. I could have Shawn join my other less-important league and see how he does as far as spending time, etc. And anyone else with a possiblity could monitor that person as well. It sure would be cool not to have to sweat through 10 picks for once (I've had to every year of the league).
I'm okay with someone else joining, as long as someone vouches for him (which they have). I agree with Danny, though. It would be nice to be able to draft one year without having 10 players taken before you.
Shawn has my vote of confidence. Danny if it helps your decision out, I'll share with you that he's probably about as big of pussy getter as Jeremy is, so he should have plenty of time to study up before and during the year.
That brings me to my next point. Anyone else noticed the trend of people that do not get laid, have been winning the last few championships (Andy, Deen, and Jeremy)? I will be notifying Karel that I will be abstaining from sex effective immediately for the betterment of my team. Nah!
But anyway, I believe that Shawn is definitely a worthy competiter. I haven't talked to him lately, but I know that this summer he was VERY VERY interested in joining and seemed very knowledgable about well known players as well as sleepers throughout baseball. Jeremy and I also told him of initiation techniques and there was not anything he wouldn't do to join. He also was a cool guy to hang out with and definitely holds his liquor better than our other Cincy members ("2 can Clutch, and Andy "Upchuck" Walter). Plus he's already better than 3 of our members and we haven't even seen him draft.
That's my honest $.02 Let me know if any of you have any idea how we can get those afore mentioned members laid so we'll have a chance next year.
Also, regarding the statement that I was an asshole to the guy on the College Hoops bulletin board, I was an asshole, but only after he came on there talking shit about how good he was. When you come into a league where you don't know anybody and start talking shit you should expect to be put back in your place, especially after getting your ass handed to you.
I would like to correct Gryder's last post. Or at least clarify it. Gryder is correct in that I stated that I didn't want Shawn Long in the league, but I was just saying it in order to get a rise out of Gryder and to be a dick head as usual. I have never actually met the guy and I would not have a problem with him joining the league if and only if he is worthy. If you guys that know him think that he will compete in the same manner that our other recent additions have (Finney and Adam) then I am all for letting him in the league. If he is going to be another Ficklin or Thunder Dan then I hope we will not let him in. After coming off our greatest year ever last year I am reluctant to invite anyone else into the league for fear of ruining. There is also the fact that I would love to go one year where there wasn't ten players chosen before the draft ever started. But, again, if Gryder, Ryan and Andy all feel like he would be a valuable and competitive member of the PCL for life then I am all for letting him into the league. A ten member league would be getting close to the ideal league I think. Another added benefit is that it would give, Finney, Tripp and Adam someone to compete with at the bottom of the standings.
Peace out.
Ryan recommended a friend of mine that I went to school with. I was planning on trying to kind of stay out of it, but I will say that he knows a lot about baseball and asks about whether he can join quite frequently. Andy and Ryan have each met him several times, so they could talk a little more about what they think too. I think Finney met him as well. I know Danny mentioned once that he didn't want him, but that really has no basis at all since the only relation Danny has with him is Danny being an asshole to him on College Hoops Pick'em. Now that I've said that, though, I'm going to try and stay out of it for a while. Either way, though, I hope that we can decide soon so that they can start studying away as soon as the magazine comes out in a week or so. Anyone else that has someone in mind speak up soon.
Looks like I need to e-mail Adam and remind him to pick his franchise player. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. Here is hoping that the 2002 PCL season is as good as the 2001 year.
Any word on if we are going to have a new member in 2002?
All I want for Christmas is a season this year. Screw the owners and players union!!!!! Roy Oswalt is my franchise ($0).
Thanks for the individual thoughtfulness, Tripp.
Merry Christmas to all!
I asked Santa to bring me a PCL championship, but I'll probably get something else since I don't need his help.
My franchise player is Matt Morris, $3.
Merry Christmas, everyone.
Merry X-Mas, X-Mac.
Deen: Kile ($3), Tripp: Burrell ($2), Ryan: Berkman ($8), Jason: Pujols ($0), Danny: Koch ($0), Finney: Dunn ($0).
I stand up for Deen and he belittles me. Gotta love this league.
Can someone summarize the franchise players named so far (with prices)?
I couldn't agree with you more Rodg'. Long live the forum. The forum has no offseason. Next thing you know the Yanks will try to sign our forum. The forum be "Big Pimpin".
I'm ready to do some more controversial trading, any takers?
The weak continue to make themselves weaker. I predict that Finney and Tripp will be the in the cellar of this league for as long as it continues.
I love this recent surge in forum activity!
Are you serious Finney? Remember how you were asking me about if I was in the same league and I tried to explain it to you for 2 hours? You'll get it kid, hang in there.
I love the competitiveness of this league. I wouldn't know what to do if nobody gave a shit about any trades that were made. Thanks fellas. Thanks for the well wishes towards Berkman, Finney. You da man.
I don't know, Danny. I just set it up with Pikers Etc. as the league and pikers the password. It works for me.
Thanks for pointing that out Deen.
Ryan I want to cancel the trade, I never realized that we were in the same league.
Finney, do you realize that Mac is in the same league as you? Some of the trades people in this league make blows my mind. It seems like everyone just thinks about how they are helping there own team without considering how much they are helping the other person. Anyway, I hope everyone keeps it up and in the meantime I'll just sit back and continue to win championships!
Gryder, how in the hell do I sign up for the college bowl pick 'em. I have tried every conceivable way to type in Pikers Etc. and nothing has worked yet. Please let me know so I can sign up and kick your ass.
You all are just jealous. I wasn't going to keep him at $30+, McCandless made an offer and I took it. I hope he is a stud next year.
That is pretty pathetic. Give up a franchise player (even if it isn't going to be Finney's franchise) for a pitcher that won't be ready until midseason and won't be of any use until 2003. If it was Benson and Ryan's first round pick, then.....
Just another fine example why Finney sucks!
What a crap trade.
I have a new email address, guys: deschamp@skyenet.net.
Jason, could you update my address on this site when you get a chance? Thanks.
Finney and I have made a trade. Berkman for Benson, and I will keep Berkman (8) as my franchise player.
That was by no means a lack of respect. I was pointing out the great picks that Deen did make. Yeah I did it in a smart-ass tone, but I firmly believe that that's what this is all about; picking the guys out from nowhere. I don't think anyone wins with their big high-priced studs. It's the low-priced bargains that do it and Deen obviously did it far better than anyone else.
That was a pretty crappy post, Jeremy. Sounds like sour grapes to me. I think Deen's won enough to be given credit for his good picks, and deserves a little more respect than that.
However, I assume your middle infielders over the years (John Valentin, Jose Valentine, Orlando Cabrera, Jerry Hairston, Tony Womack, etc.) were examples of your great scouting ability?
I just signed up a group for College Bowl Pick'em. I expect to see you sorry asses there. Group name: Pikers Etc., password: pikers. I think Finney could even provide better direction for baseball than the sorry asses in charge now. I'm out!
If MLB survives another year before folding, my franchise player is Matt Morris. The Yankees have such a huge advantage over the other teams it's a joke. Taking the competitive aspect away from the game is serious business. Why can't the idiots of MLB realize they've got to change things.
Thanks for the run-down Gryder, but I was wanting to see the stats to help me name my franchise player. The magazine in January isn't going to help. It's hard to tell without hearing the tone of your voice, but that post of yours leads me to believe that you're a little bitter.
Deen: John Burkett had a 1.36 ERA (previous career ERA of 6.23), Russ Ortiz had a 1.01 WHIP (previous career WHIP of 2.39), Jose Mesa had like 64 saves (last 5 years ERA/WHIP of 8.36/2.18), Torii Hunter had 48 homers (quadrupling his previous CAREER total) and Doug Mienticiefuckingwicz hit .386 (previous career high, including Little League, was .178). Hope this helps. And you can see the rest in a few weeks. The first magazine should be out in the first or second week of January.
If I don't name someone else, mine is Daryl Kile. Why can't we see our season-long stats on Sportsline? That sucks! I would like to see all of my players stats for the season, but I don't want to have to go search for them individually.
mine is Billy koch!!
Mine is Burrell if not already noted.
Mine is Pujols if not already noted.
Just a reminder. All franchise players need to be named by January 1.
Wow. Look at all the activity on this board.
Can't wait for the St. Louis A's to kick a little booty next year.
I want to also suggest a rules change that our 10 keepers can either be active or reserve (basically meaning there is no active or reserve until we name them after the draft).
I begged and pleaded for us to be able to draft reserves at anytime last year, so I definitely agree with that point. Tripp, my e-mail is still jsgryder@hotmail.com, so let the trade offers flow my way.
I like that rule too, where you can name your reserves after the draft. It adds to the strategy/flexibility of the draft.
Jeremy, email me about a possible trade (not sure if you have the same email address).
Hey, Jeremy. I'd agree with most of your points. Number four I think is not really needed, but I wouldn't throw a fit if it passed. And I'd like clarity on what a "tradeback" is. Is there a time limit on it (one week, two weeks, a month?) or can you absolutely never trade the guy back?
I think that we should also change the rules to draft actives and reserves all in one draft. Without having to name what position you are filling until it's over.
Yeah, and no extra franchise player.
I agree with all of them. With #4, I think if the player is not replaced by the owner, he should be stuck with the shittiest player in that position. Someone that bats a lot and has a real shitty average, or a pitcher that gets rocked every time he pitches, ie Jeff Wallace.
I agree with #1, #2, and #5 totally. I don't agree with #4 at all.
With #3, I think you should be able to do it as long as you send the person down and then bring them up on the next week. You should not be able to do it in the same week.
Thank you very much. I started to point it out, but didn't want to brag.
Deen: Congrats on your post at exactly 11 o'clock. You are the man!
I definitely agree with #1, #2, and #3. I'm not convinced about #4 yet, and I tend to agree with #5, but I don't agree with it as strongly as I do the others.
Well, four people have commented on the rule changes that I proposed. All four agreed with all of them. But five people haven't put a bit of input into it at all. Deen, Danny, Tripp, Adam and Finney: Thoughts please?
And fuck Jeffries's promise (yeah, good luck in the NBA next year jackass), and Coverdale's inconsistency, and Newton's passiveness, and Davis's "pro-style", stand-around-with-your-thumb-up-your-ass offense. That was the worst damn game I've seen a D1 team play in an awfully long time. But hell yeah to IU football. The conditions were awful, but it was one hell of a game to be at. Wish you could have joined us, Andy and Ryan. By the way, I did call you last night to see if you wanted to go Ryan.
I've also been down for Thanksgiving and couldn't join. I definitely missed one hell of a sweet game (if you forget about the shittyness of the field, both teams offenses, the hellacious rain..... and only look at the defenses and the outcome). Looked like one hell of an atmosphere though.
I agree with all of the issues that Jeremy discussed 1-5. I'm not in favor of another franchise player solely based on the fact that I like the small dollar players that contribute a great deal in a league like ours that has such a squeeze on salary. I think that it's already possible to have several great players on a team, but the fact that it takes the little things out of a low dollar guy to make the difference in winning a championship... definitely makes our league twice as fun. Not that adding just 1 franchise player would ruin all that, but it would take away one small dollar guy that I don't want to part with.
Back to IU... fuck those shitty ass shots that Marquette threw in late in the game... and fuck Hornsby's hands.
And also... don't you guys think its time to let me back in the league? I am a paying member and all. Thanks.. let me know if you need me to get Finney's mom to do favors for you guys. Later.
I wish I could join you guys this weekend, but we've got our family Thanksgiving on Saturday. Drink one for me!!
Are they going to be in Bloomington Friday, or the number they will be at?
Finney: Danny, Deen, Adam and I are all going to the IU/Purdue game. Deen and Danny are going Friday night I think and I am going to get there early Saturday morning. I think we are tailgaiting at around 9 o'clock. I can give you a call when I get there, though, if you want and let you know where we'll be. Go IU!!!
Anyone going to the IU/Purdue game this weekend, I decided to make the trip and go to the game. I'll be staying at my brother's place. His number is 812-337-9030, give me a call when you get in town. Also if anyone needs tickets, he should be able to get some of his roomates tickets. And if anyone needs a place to stay in Bloomington you can crash at his place. See you there.
I also agree these rules should all be added before next season. They all make perfect sense to me and I can't think of an argument to be made against any of them. What we need is some more input from other owners.
As for the additional franchise player, I'm kind of neutral. Either way is fine with me but I'd like to hear from some other people.
I agree all of those rules should be implemented. Some I feel more strongly about than others, like the no trade back clause.
Also, what is everyones opinion about future expansion of another Franchise Player? I mentioned earlier in the year, that I would like to add another franchise player, that was only on a one year contract basis. Everyone else?
I tried to get people to discuss very issues during the season and everyone wanted to until the season was over. So I will try again, although now it's probably the offseason and no one cares attitude. Anyway, here are some rule changes I think should be implemented:
1.) Absolutely no trade-backs. If trade-backs can be allowed, there may as well be no limit on # of reserve moves, because obviously you could get around the # of 5 anyway. 2.) If a guy on your reserve goes on the DL, you can't bring him up and then replace him. 3.) If you have a guy on the DL on your active squad and have him replaced but don't like the replacement you made, you can't send him to reserve and then call him right back up to replace him again. The only way you would be able to change the DL replacement you made is by using a trannie. 4.) If you have a guy go on the DL, you must replace him right then and there. We could add a window of like one weekly deadline just in case someone missed that his guy was on the DL, but no longer. 5.) As long as you keep 10 players to go on your starting team for the next year, you can keep additional players to go onto your reserve squad if you see fit.
My biggest problem with things is that everyone (me included) manipulate the DL in a way to benefit their teams. And I just don't think this is right. I think we should go to as great a strides as possible to eliminate any advantage one may get by having a guy get hurt. Thus, eliminating reserve squad and tradeback moves. I just wanted to throw my two cents out on various issues. I'm sure there are more that I am just forgetting. Agree or disagree, but just at least comment. By the way, I am putting the finishing touches on the 2001 Season Review, so it should be up soon. I'm out!
Good riddance to Big Mac!
I'll sure miss Big Mac, things won't be the same without him.
hell yeah, Deen and I both are coming up for the IU/Purdue game. Gryder, you and Andy should come and get fucked up with us. It should be good.
We will have a pretty good tailgait going for both of them. All are welcome.
I'll be at the Kentucky game.
It is too bad Big Mac is leaving, it was fun having him as a part of this league.
I'm considering it, Retard. You want to go too, Andy?
Anyone besides Danny coming into town for the Purdue game?
Good Bye Big Mac. Now just convince Giambi to come to the Cards!
If anyone wants a stud $1 closer (Jeff Zimmerman) as thier franchise player, let me know and we can talk about a deal.
I've been so busy lately I haven't even thought about fantasy baseball (I suck). Deen, I will get $40 to you when I have the extra money (around the first of the year). Andy, sorry I forgot to pay you. Guys I will try to do better.
If you guys will still have me, I'd like to try again next year. I hope we're not considering contraction also! When do we have to name franchise players by? If it's soon, then of course mine is Pat Burrell.
Am I the first one to post since the World Series ended? If I am, let me be the first to say congratulations to the Yankees. I can't believe how awesomely they played, and they almost had it won. Game 7 was by far the best Game I have ever seen. When Soriano hit that homer in the 8th I almost turned off the TV and went to bed. But I stayed with it to give my support to the D'Backs. You all saw it, it was freakin awesome. I SO wanted to call up Gryder but I thought that might be too mean. So, congratulations, Yankees. You suck.
Fuck the Yankees!!!!!!!
And Suck it Gryder!!!!
I think we should start imposing sanctions on the cheap bastards of our otherwise great league. I say that if payment is not received by Deen and Andy on the 20th of November, then the guilty party loses his franchise player. After that we'll have to consider expulsion. I'm sure there are plenty of people that would be glad to be in our league and be willing to pay.
I think Tripp has tried to beat us at our own game... we thougth by keeping him in the league that it would be a sure thing to be collecting an easy $20 from him. He has kept up the losing part of the bargain, but dammit if he doesn't pay. I guess we're going to have to start doing a credit history on potential new inductees into the PCL.
I think the most ironic thing about me and the Yankees is that when I'm watching them bat or field... I tend to say that I hate each of them individually instead of collectively saying that I hate their whole team. I will have to hand it to them, they don't appear to be as good as they have in the past, but they still are finding a way to win. I still have hope that the snakes are going to bite them in the ass. Go D'backs!!!!!
You don't have to do that Andy. I'm not really pissed off yet. Tripp is worthless!
Damn straight, Andy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since Tripp is apparently never going to pay from last year, I guess I'll just send you the $20 Deen and not worry about the proposition I made earlier. I think I still have your address but if not I'll get back to you and get it. By the way has Tripp paid you? Maybe he just has a personal grudge against me, hell if I know.
The Yankees are unbelievable.
I paid already. You guys suck
It sure would be nice to get some money from a couple of you worthless bastards!
Finney, do you think you will get married in your activity pants?
Congratulations Finito! And Congratulations Deen.. I'm sure that Finney would've taken yours.
Congrats Finney.
I would like to make it clear that I have not named my franchise player yet and will decide who that is in the future. Thanks you.
I would probably take Mo Adam.
Sucks to be you Finney!
Just so you know, Adam, I wouldn't take my advice on franchise player, though. My previous two were Russ Ortiz and his 6+ ERA for the first two months of 2000 and Richard Hidalgo's sorry ass this year.
Congrats Finney, or at least good luck. Assuming Mo will be completely healthy, I'd go with him barely over CC. I'd also like to give props to my team's namesake, Buck Showalter. Who built the foundation of the Yankees current Dynasty? Mr. Buck Showalter. Who built the current D-backs from the ground up? Mr. Buck Showalter. You da' man, Buck!!! Now come to Cincy and take over for dumbass Boone!!!
I almost forgot to tell you guys, I bit the bullet and Rachel and I got engaged last weekend. I sure it was sad for all the ladies out there to have one less stud in the dating pool, but I guess that just leaves more for Deen.
I vote to update the PCL records.
I would probably go with Sabathia.
Sabathia looks tough...but I think pitchers have a better chance of faltering than hitters. Ask Jeremy when he had Russ Davis last year as his FP. I am not sure about Mo's health for next year, but I think I would go for him....although, CC is more likely to be overpriced by the magazine than Mo. Hope that indecisive mess helps.
I have a minor dilema on my hands. One is that I can't spell dilema and the other is do I keep Sabathia or Mo as my franchise. Any thoughts from the peanut gallery?
Spelling sucks
If it says in the rules two weeks, I just messed up. We agreed Dec. 31. Some people (myself included) preferred to wait longer, but others disagreed. You have two weeks after the season to use any remaining trannies, but end of the year for franchise.
I'll name Adam Dunn as my franchise player. If we're trading for draft picks, I've got Berkman ($8), Loduca (3), and Mays (3) available. It would have to be a pretty good pick though.
I wouldn't mind trading Alfonso Soriano ($0) for a draft pick as well. If anyone is interested let me know.
I named mine. Albert Pujols $0. If someone doesn't have a good Franchise Player candidate....I will trade you Matt Anderson $1 for a draftpick.
I named mine. Albert Pujols $0
Nobody has named theirs as far as I know.
If it is a two week deadline then I would like to keep Billy Koch as my franchise player at $0 but if not, then I will continue to ponder the situation. Am I the only one who hasn't named their franchise player yet?
Let me know something.
It does say two weeks after the end of the regular season in the rules, but I could have sworn that we always had until later to do it.
Let me know one way or the other what the deal is.
It's really no big deal, but where did you come up with this Dec. 31st date? Doesn't it say in the rules that they were supposed to be named by two weeks after the final day of the regular season?
December 31
when do we have to name our franchise player?
I will take Adrian Beltre with my final trannie and drop Jon Lieber. Now, if you need surgery this offseason, Adrian, come to civilization to have it done!!!!!
I got your check today Adam, thanks! It sure would be nice if I could get anyone else to pay me.
Butt puppies?
Would that be the butt puppies reunion?
Your ass better be at the reunion tomorrow Mac!
Basketball is in no means my expertise, so enjoy.
Mac: That was football....NBA is my expertice! Thanks for joining, so I can pay you back!
I missed the damn pigskin deadline by 4 minutes. I was in meetings all day and didn't have a chance to pick them. I hope the presets do better than I have (shouldn't be too difficult).
Jason, I owe you one for kicking your ass soo bad in fantasy football a few weeks ago, so I'll join your league.
If anyone wants in the "just for fun" NBA yahoo fantasy league that a few people from Pike are in. we have a few more team slots. Hope to see you PCLers pass the baseball offseason time by.
Hey Bitch Boy Deen....I sent your check today. Any of you guys going to make it to Bloomington for a little post-season weekend?
Broke Retard
Gryder, I didn't get your messages until last night. Had I been around, I would have went. Thanks for the invitation anyway.
Finney, are you even going to bother to compete in the PCL next year, or are you just going to hang it up? With your performances the last 2 years, I'd probably just hang it up if I were you. I hope that you stay though. I sure will enjoy collecting your money year after year.
Not that I was rooting for the Yanks, but Mac, how does that foot taste?
Enjoy your glory while it lasts, Gryder. I hear a bomb ticking in NYC. Torch the Yanks!! Woo-Hoo!!!
Fuck you Gryder!!
Take a seat, Cardinals!!! Woo-hoo!!!
I think the only fair thing is for no one to pay Deen until Andy gets his money from Tripp.
Congrats Tons of Fun.
Rediculous Tripp... absolutely rediculous. I think a big apology is in order to the Brawler. Time to give that nickname some reality by placing a beating on the Blacksux.
Adam, I guess the easiest way to handle the plaque issue is for me to send you the label in the mail and you can get it engraved and then send it back to me. Let me know your address and I'll get the label to you ASAP, unless you know of an easier way. Later.
Due to the fact that Tripp has still failed to pay me the $20 from last year's PCL title, I think it would be easier if perhaps he would just pay you $40, Deen. That would take care of the debts to both of us. If he doesn't want to do it that way, I'll simply mail you the $20 and worry about the $20 he owes me later.
Tripp, if your delinquent ass is out there, let me know what you are going to do. I think it would be easier for both of us if you would simply pay Deen $40, but do as you wish.
Your check is in the mail, HBK.
Oh, and one more thing. You can keep guys on your reserve for next year. When we voted, somehow it was voted on that reserves from one year can be kept for the next year, while keepers for one year can't be put on reserves the next. Seems like about the same damn thing to me, but that's how the votes came out. So feel free to have one of your reserves from this year as one of your 10 keepers when spring rolls around.
Ryan, it's still my Cincinnati address. And Game, don't forget about the $5 you owe me for Brad Penny's ERA being under 4.50. I'll just take it in the form of two frosty beverages on draft day. Thanks.
Congratulations, Deen.
Marge, it's that flamin' poop again. This one's out of control. Call the fire department.
Sweet. Now I know where I can go throw shit on someone's door for holloween. Thanks for the address, Deen. I'll try to make it in the shape of a baseball in honor of your victory.
Since Mac is sending his money to Gryder, how about Jason also pays Jeremy, and the rest of you fools can pay me ,except for Danny of course.
So, I would appreciate it if Tripp, Finney, Andy, and Adam could put a $20 check in the mail sometime in the near future and send it to: 11511 Harlequin Lane Apt. 208 Fishers, IN 46038
Your contributions will be appreciated!
Adam, as far as the plaque goes, I don't know. Andy has it now, so you guys are just going to have to work something out before the draft.
Glad I could be there for you.
Hey fellas, here's a hearty congratulations to the Critters. I'm still trying to figure out how the Critters won without an offense and without Pedro, and constantly getting bit in the ass by the injury bug? Must have done something right though, congrats. Anytime in the near future works out for me as far as lunch. I don't have anything going on until November.
Congrats to the Bucks and to the Purdue Train-wreck. I'll send my money to the Bucks and take my Shannon Stewart discount of $5 for not reaching 30 steals. Let me know the address to send it to.. still Cincy?
Thanks to the Retard to for making me feel better after the day that you had Monday. Later bitches.
I just got done reading the PCL constitution and if I read it right, we are permitted to name our 10 keepers from the active roster and from the reserve roster. Is that correct? If not, I want to move Rick Ankiel to the active roster for Aaron Sele as my last reserve move.
I haven't decided on my franchise player yet. I sure do wish we could have two of them. Later, ho'es
$100 for first place, $60 for second place and the $20 entry fee back to third place.
It was a bitter Monday for the Retard. I saw the final standings in the PCL and it really hit how bad my team was. I lost to Finney for God's sake. I lost all 3 of my fantasy football games this week. I lost first place in my other baseball league on the last day ofthe season. I just need my pick-up to break down and my dog to die and I have one hell of a country song.
Just wanted to congratulate Blue Deenie on the win and to thank all of you for letting me into the league. It's always tough to be an expansion team but I hung in there until the All-Star Break and then my preseason gambles bit me in the ass. Just let me know what I need to do with the entrance fee and Deen let me know about the plaque.
I put an order in for 4 tickets for the Rogers brothers for the UK IU Basketball game. I should know in a month or so if I got them or not. If anyone is going to be down for football games drop me an email. I'm off to cheer on the A's. They have some of my favorite Royals on their roster.

How much money did I win Gryder?
Most importantly, when does the plaque change hands? At the draft?
Mac, when do you want to get together for lunch?
Franchise players need to be named by the end of 2001. Any transactions need to be made 2 weeks after the year, although no one but me needs to worry anyway. Feel free to e-mail me any suggestions on who to take.
Congrats Deen. You weathered the storm. I tanked the last three weeks to finish dead in the middle. I guess I just have to face my mediocrity. I have updated the all time franchise percentages on the home page. Only 1 move in the all time standings....PC Critters passed BBB for second all time. I have cursed my last two seemingly rock solid Franchise players, so I am hesitant to make this years....but it should be a can't miss. I will keep Albert Pujols $0 as my Franchise. Great season guys. The Forum will be up all winter so feel free to post. Also if you have any ideas for the website or want something for your team pages get the info to me. 69ers out.
Coming in third is not bad, but it is a pretty big let down after having such high expectations this year. I am proud of my pitching staff though. After everyone talked about Deen's and Ryan's staff at the beginning of the year, it was the Trainwreck who ruled the pitching categories. My hitters just had a disappointing season. The trainwreck will be back next year ready to whip everybody's candy ass. You can count on it. Congrats to Deen, way to keep it in the family.
When do we have to name our franchise player?
Thanks everyone! It has been one hell of a year. I was pretty sure last night that I had it, but I was definitely relieved to see the standings this morning. I had a little nightmare about it last night. I can't wait to get that plaque hung over my fireplace!
It looks like we had 5 records broken, with 4 of them being in the pitching categories. We set a new standard this year.
Well, congrats Deen. I made one hell of a run in the final two months, but fell barely short. I thought I may have a chance yesterday as the day went on. My offense went off and even passed Ryan in RBI's at one point. At the same time, Kile got rocked and pushed your ERA past Danny's. Ryan got 4 late RBI's, though, and Sele gave up one too many runs to allow Deen's ERA to go back below Danny's. Congrats again, but I'm already primed and ready for next year.
Hell of a year, Critters. I wasn't sure you were going to hold off the late run that the Bucks made but you hung in there like a champ. Don't get too comfortable with that plaque though.
I think the Bucks should get comeback franchise of the year. He seemingly went from about 7th to 1st or second overnight.
Trainwreck: Way to battle and take 3rd place.
Congratulations to all 3 of you.
Adam, in case you didn't know, the last place finisher is in charge of getting the winner's team name engraved on the PCL plaque. The spelling is P-.-C-. C-R-I-T-T-E-R-S
Hey guys. I agree with Andy, this season has really sucked. I've pretty much been in no man's land all season, comfortably ahead of the bottom, yet tortuously just a step or two away from being among the leaders.
It would also really suck if Deen or Jeremy won yet again. So, I guess the only thing I can say at this point is, "let's go 'Wreck!"
(Even though they still have that gay Purdue logo)
Hey fellas. How ironic is it that the PCL record in HR's was broken with the same swing in which the MLB record was broken. With Bond's 71st homer, that was my 325th? Coincidence, I think not. Fate?
I think it may already be decided but I will cast my vote in favor of no tie-breaker. Good luck to the Bucks, Wreck, and Critters. Maybe I can come back and steal Danny's third place on the last day as I did last year? I'd like to say let the best team win, but I'm not sure who the hell that would be this year. It's amazing to think that with another day, the standings could be significantly different than they will be tomorrow after the last game. It's been the most fun year for me yet, and I don't see it heading down-hill anytime soon. Thanks for the great competition fellas.
And Jason, the Daddies will be "punting" the Punt's all day long... without my tri-fecta of Colts. That's gonna be embarassing for you. I'm under-manned... but your overmatched. I don't see a plethura of touchdowns coming from Priest Holmes this week... I think the Broncos will burn him at the stake... he doesn't play against Washington this week.
Later all... good luck again. Hope Randy pitches tomorrow. I'd like to play a role in deciding the champion.
Well, I'm off to my final Reds game of the season today. And due to the Reds rainout last night, my pitcher (Elmer) is going for the Reds. I think it's the only start left for me or Ryan, whom I'm tied with in wins, so this could be HUGE for me. Every point obviously will matter the next two days. Go Elmer and Go Bucks!!!
In what has been a night-marish season for the Brawlers, I vow to come back next year and avenge the pitiful showing of this year's team. I think it all started with Livan Hernandez, ugh... Good luck 'Wreck, Critters, and Bucks. Watching the race for the PCL title has been about as interesting as Bonds chasing 71. My room will feel naked without the plaque in it. Oh, well it will only be for a year. Later all.
It would be too late to put in a tiebreaker rule now anyway I guess. Gryder, you just need to suck it so I can at least come in second.
Rock(yahoo)and Xmac (Sandbox)...I hate to whip on two fellow PCL'ers in one week in football...but that is just how the cards lie I guess. Prepare to be "Punted"!
Ok, which would suck worse? Battling hard all season and ending up in a tie for first, or battling hard all season, ending up tied for first, then have it determined by some gay tiebreaker that you get booted down to second.
I vote no tie-breaker. It would suck having a tie, but I don't think there's any fair way to distinguish a winner otherwise. Go Bucks!!!
Sounds like some great ideas for the tiebreaker. I don't like the eating idea though because Deen has too big of an advantage for that.
There has to be a tiebreaker for first place though because we can't go through a whole season and have a damn tie for first place. that would be like kissing your sister (which would be great if I was one of the Gryder brothers) or kissing your brother in Deen and I's case and that ain't cool at all.
How about a golden shower competition... see who can take getting pissed on the most?
Or maybe who has the biggest "sword". Deen hasn't seen his in years, so I bet that won't get his vote.
I don't think there should be a tiebreaker.
However, if for some dumbass reason there is one, I wholeheartedly support one that involves eating.
I bet you would still finish in the cellar Finney!
I like the Godfather's suggestion. The winner of that would be the most deserving person by far.
Another option could be a Swords battle for the championship.
I say they see who can eat the most hard boiled eggs in one sitting.
It sure is coming down to the wire this year isn't it? A couple of weeks ago I never thought I would be in the position I am in, that's for sure. If the Critters and Bucks falter in the next 4 games, I will be right there to pick up their scraps. We really need to think of a tiebreaker plan.
My only thought so far has been to take the two teams that are tied and then just rank them one-two in every category and see who wins that. It they are still tied after that, I don't know who wins.
Any suggestions?
I think we should freeze 4 players. That would be sweet.
I agree with my co-3rd place compadre, Rock. 1 freeze.
I don't think we changed the rules of the franchise player. I think we still only get one. Go Cardinals!!!
Not that I'm aware of.
Did we ever decide how many salaries we get to freeze at the end of the season?
I guess I need to go ahead and move Mo Vaughn into the lineup for Jose Offerman. Unless I will be able to keep him as a franchise guy with him on my reserve roster. As for Benny, I just didn't have the time to look for a replacement. I hope it doesn't effect my place in the standings.
